Steve K Simons is an animator and designer based in Cambridge, UK. Steve has made an international impact with his specialist work with ancient artefacts, bringing ancient images to life and representing them in innovative ways. Steve runs the Panoply Vase Animation Project (www.panoply.org.uk) with his wife, the ancient historian, Dr Sonya Nevin. The Project’s animations have been exhibited in the National Museum in Warsaw, the Ure Museum of Classical Archaeology in the UK, The Winnipeg Art Gallery in Canada, the University College Dublin Classical Museum in Ireland, and further museums across France, Switzerland, and Italy. Steve studied at IBAT College Dublin in Ireland. He is currently animating and designing for two European Research Council projects: Our Mythical Childhood… The Reception of Classical Antiquity in Children’s and Young Adults’ Culture in Response to Regional and Global Challenges (ERC Consolidator Grant, 681202: http://www.omc.obta.al.uw.edu.pl/ ) and Locus Ludi. Steve created the illustrations for The Symposium on the Greekssymposium, bringing the style of ancient Greek vase art to the sights and scenes of the modern conference.
